Christian what is my purpose

Before we dive into this point, we need to make at least one caveat. God is God and He works all things, including your life, according to his purposes. Nothing can happen without God ordaining it. God has numbered your days and will fulfill every purpose He has for you.

However, our choices and actions also really matter. We can choose to do things that will bring us more joy and give us more of a sense of purpose.

We want to help you identify those choices you can make to bring more excitement and God-given purpose into your life. God has created you uniquely, has really good things planned for you and one of the fruits of the Spirit is joy Galatians Sure, there will be difficult things you encounter that require patience and persistence, but overall you should have a sense of joy and excitement that fills your days, your work and your relationships.

The pursuit of joy in God is not optional. If you go about your days experiencing little fulfillment, you may be wandering from your God-given purpose. Fulfillment comes from doing rewarding, meaningful, purposeful things.

From a job that taps into your skills and passions. From a relationship that involves giving and receiving. From hobbies that are invigorating instead of mind-numbing. You know the feeling of pointless work. You go to the office, clock in, do your job, then go home and collapse in front of the television. You work for the weekends and for retirement.

All true joy you experience comes from things outside of work. From hobbies or friends or side jobs. Would you say that this kind of joy characterizes your life and work? So they spin their wheels, feeling endlessly frustrated but unsure of how to make the frustration end. Do you feel trapped? You can regain your sense of purpose and discover what God has for your life. If you feel purposeless, ask God to give you wisdom and direction.

God wants to give you a purpose. He wants to bestow divine wisdom on you. He desires you to have a joyful, ambitious, purposeful life. Ask God for purpose and expect Him to give it to you. The primary way God speaks to us is through the Bible. God has given you very specific gifts and strengths. Maybe you have a mind for electronics or business. This is where education can be particularly valuable. It also connects you with people who want to help you find your purpose.

Really, this can be anything. If you decide your purpose is to become a musician, what does it mean if you can no longer play? If your decide your purpose is to become a pastor, what will happen if there's no jobs available? If you decide your purpose is to become a mother or father, what will that mean if you never marry?

If you decide your purpose is to become an olympic athlete, how will you feel if you have a serious injury? That's why your purposes have to be so much bigger. Here's a summary of what he says: Your first purpose is to know and love God. Your destiny as a Christian is eternal life with Him, so this purpose is what you were made for and can never be taken away from you.

Your second purpose is to be part of God's family. He has saved you to be part of an eternal family - His family. First, is that you discover your identity and purpose through your relationship with Jesus Christ. Second, this verse is a good reminder that God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about Him.

He planned your life before you existed, without your input! You may choose your career, your spouse, your hobbies and many other parts of your life, but you don't get to choose your purpose. And third, the purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity. I urge you to set aside some time to seriously think about the answers to these questions.

They will affect not only the rest of your life, but your eternity. As Paul said in 2 Cor. This is the question of worship. Whom are you going to live for? What are you going to build your life around? You can center your life on your career, your family, a sport or hobby, money, or many other activities. None is strong enough to hold you together when life starts breaking apart. You need an unshakable center. In 2 Chron.

If you have committed your life to Christ, He moved into the center, but you must keep Him there on a daily basis. How do you know when God is at the center of your life? Worry is the warning light that God has been shoved to the sideline of your life. This is the question of discipleship. Leaving what you know. Doing something new. Abraham left what he knew Mesopotamia and set out for somewhere brand new Canaan and God blessed him! God will bless you , too. We see many examples of others stepping out in faith throughout Scripture: David risked everything by going out against Goliath.

Moses risked everything by facing Pharaoh and the Red Sea. Jesus risked everything by going to the cross. God wants to use you to bless other people, to encourage them, to comfort them, to offer them hope, to lead them to Christ!

Start by serving your family, then continue by serving others — in your church and outside of it as well.
